  • Overview

    To create, populate and maintain the loco fleet plan in real time through TOPS and TRUST for GB Railfreight (and other operators where contracted). Support the Train Service Controllers and Duty Control Manager to achieve the safe, punctual and reliable operation of Train Services.


    • Real time monitoring of the GB Railfreight / Network Rail Track Access contracts ensuring that TOPS consisting work is carried out for all GBRf operated services.
    • Proactive creation and monitoring of all GB Railfreight train services to ensure it aligns with the loco plan.
    • Ensure plan revisions are communicated with the Train Service Controller/Duty Control Manager
    • Undertake TOPS integrity where appropriate including locomotive exams / fuelling and restrictions in conjuction with the Engineering Team and Maintenance Contractors
    • Manage the fuelling of GBRf loco's at avaialble locations through fuel deliveries
    • Ensure through contact with traincrew that all documentation (i.e. fuel submissions, consumable reporting) is done correctly
    • Ensure that all GBRf train services are correctly consisted in TOPS/TRSUT to meet the loco plan
    • Ensure all TOPS work with regard to Locomotive Maintenance is carried out in a timely fashion
    • Manage the fuel ordering/deliveries to achieve cost efficiencies 
    • Continually monitor and look at ways to reduce loco milage and wasted journeys



    • GCSE, or equivalent, grade C or above in English and Mathematics
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Customer focused, flexbile and the ability to work under pressure


    • Previous experience gained with a control/planning department
    • Geographical knowledge
    • Relevant degree in Engineering
    • Knowlege of Coruson, TOPs, TRUST, Loco Fleet, Consumables
