    An exciting role has recently become available within the Performance team. We are looking for a Performance Improvement Manager to deliver the development of business-critical performance improvement schemes to meet company performance targets and to support the Performance and Development Manager to deliver improvements to new and existing business, ensuring that we are delivering enhanced profitability and a proven reduction in cost. This role could be based in either London, Doncaster or Peterborough. 

     

    This role requires the successful candidate to be flexible in traveling between GBRf locations around the UK.

    Responsibilities

    • Liaising with Operations Managers, General Managers, Business Implementation & Improvement managers and the Business Analyst to ensure that all improvement projects are undertaken to deliver cost reduction and improved ROS.
    • To Work with Contract managers to ensure that continuous improvement and performance KPI’s are being met.
    • Working with the data team to create effective reporting to enable performance improvement
    • Understanding key drivers of Terminal performance
    • Implement projects to deliver improvements at Ports, Terminals and rail hubs to drive an increase Right Time Departures and Arrivals.
    • Act as key point of contact for local operations team for performance reporting & analysis of arising issues.
    • To understand the national performance statistics at a locational level and track against GBRf targets.
    • Ensure performance improvement projects are identified and carried out to underperforming services.
    • Forecasting avoidable issues and ensuring mitigation plans are put in place
    • Attending the fortnightly performance calls, also chairing in lieu of the P&D manager.
    • Creating an effective relationship with Network Rail to deliver improvements at a route level.

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Systems management experience
    • Knowledge of GBRf flows, processes and data sources (internal and external)
    • The ability to work under pressure and deliver to set timescales.
    • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • Willingness to travel and lodge away
    • Strong initiative and self-starter

     

    Desirable Skills

    • Relevant degree or professional qualification
    • Railfreight performance management systems including rostering (Crewplan), Delay Attribution (TRUST/TOPS), Track Access Contracts and Charging (TAC)
    • Previous railway operational knowledge, including time and motion studies and production of Method of works.
