Overview

GB Railfreight are looking to recruit a Loading Standards Manager to manage the compliance, training and assessment requirements of the loading processes for various commodities including Intermodal, MOD, Bulk and Network Rail.

 

You will work in a stand alone role and become a recognised leader in the wider loading standards field and this opportunity provides you an opportunity to build professional working relationhips with both internal and external stakeholders.

 

In this role you will primarly ensure that risks imported by traffic operations such as off set loads and over loading are identified and managed. Secondary they will manage oversee SCO and MOD loading requirements.

 

They will support the Head of Safety in the delivery of GB Railfreight’s Strategic Safety Plan, and they will also be responsible for the production and monitoring of loading related KPIs.

 

This role would suit you if you live in or around Anglia, Cambrdigeshire, East and West Midlands, Peterborough and London as you will be traveling within these locations.

Responsibilities

Core activities include:

  • Implementing a regime to check, monitor and audit operational sites and activities to ensure compliance with GB Railfreights Loading Guidelines to support the SMS procedures.
  • Ensure that any recommendations from audits or spot checks are provided to the Head of Standards.
  • Ensure any recommendations are actioned and review processes are in place.
  • Ensure there are robust systems in place to support the training, assessment and ongoing competence management, of all staff who perform loading activities.
  • Undertake incident and accident investigations relating to loading activities, as required.
  • Conduct audits of external organisations that are contracted to provide loading services to GB Railfreight.
  • Review external reports and advise Heads of Departments on actions to be taken.
  • Communicates any updates and key information regarding loading practices to all staff.

 

Qualifications

Person Specification and skills required in the role:

 

Knowledge of Intermodal and bulk loading is essential.

SCO Loading standards qualification is desirable.

Rail operations and loading experience is essential.

GCSE's in English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent) is desirable.

Good communication and report writing skills is essential along with anlytical thinking.

Ability to investigate and submit clear and precise reports and recommendations is desirable however training will be provided

Competent in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Self-motivated individual that uses their initiative to set and achieve demanding targets and objectives. Ability to provide regular, clear updates on performance against objectives.

IOSH is desirable

Assessing and training competence would be desirable

Auditing qualification and previous auditing experience would be desirable

 

A driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel initially within Felixstowe, Doncaster, Birmingham, Midlands and other locations.
