Overview

Are you currently working for a freight company in either the Planning or Control department and looking for your next career move?!

 

We are ideally looking for experience of working as a freight Planner or have experience of working in a Control department. You will be trained up to look after the locomotive fleet plan real time through our TOPS and TRUST for GB Railfreight (and other operators where contracted) train services and support Train Service Controllers and Duty Control Manager.

 

You’ll enjoy feeling under pressure and like to get things right.  You will be competent with IT packages such as MS word, excel and outlook. You will have excellent attention to detail and enjoy working in a busy role.

Responsibilities

  • Real time monitoring of the GB Railfreight / Network Rail Track Access contracts ensuring that TOPS consisting work is carried out for all GBRf operated services to meet the loco plan
  • Proactive creation and monitoring of all GB Railfreight train services to ensure the loco plan is being met
  • Communication of plan revisions with the Train Running controller /DCM
  • Undertake TOPS interrogation where appropriate including locomotive exams / fuelling and restrictions in conjunction with the Engineering Team and Maintenance Contractors
  • Manage the fuelling of GBRf loco's at available locations through fuel deliveries
  • Ensure through contact with traincrew that all documentation (id. fuel submissions, consumable reporting) is done correctly
  • Ensure that all GBRf train services are correctly consisted in TOPS/TRUST to meet the loco plan
  • Ensure all TOPS work with regard to Locomotive Maintenance is carried out in a timely fashion
  • Utilised the white space to make loco's more cost effective
  • Manage the fuel ordering/deliveries to be more cost effective for GBRf
  • Continually monitor and look at ways to reduce loco mileage and wasted journeys

 

Qualifications

  • G.C.S.E or equivalent grade C or above in English and Mathematics
  • Competent with MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent communicator
  • Customer focused, flexible and the ability to work under pressure
  • Previous experienced gained within the Control / planning department of a freight operator
  • Railway geographical knowledge

Desirable:

  •  Relevant degree in Engineering
  •  GBRf systems including Coruson, TOPS, TRUST, Loco fleet, consumables
