Overview

Here at GB Railfreight a vacancy has arise for a Production Accountant reporting to the Head of Management Accounting, working closely with the Production Director and Head of Resourcing/Planning.

 

You will assist the finance department in compiling, interpreting and analysing all costs relating to payroll and fuel on a month by month basis, including compiling Budgets and Forecasts.

 

 

Responsibilities

Due to the rapidly changing and fast placed nature of this growing company, you will benefit from cover a broad scope of tasks which will include:

 

  • Responsible for all costs relating to Traincrew, including payroll & other associated costs including Hotels/ Lodge / Taxi / Vehicle hire / Van lease costs, Diesel fuel.
  • Coding and processing of all invoices/purchase orders, Journals, Reconciliations & Variance Analysis.
  • Review payment information for 4 weekly RD hours’ overtime payments.
  • Analysis/review of traincrew overtime payments and any associated accruals for annual overtime, and provide weekly stats to the Production Director, Head of Resourcing and Regional Managers.
  • Monitor & update Traincrew stats including Hours worked, Productivity, Under Utilisation, Training & RL, Sick days etc.
  • Provide hours / fuel stats to Safety Team & traincrew sickness stats to HR.
  • Managing month end reporting Cycle, ensuring all the relevant costs are accounted for at the end of each month.
  • Compiling & Analysing Financial information to prepare financial reports including Production & Finance KPI’s. and the monthly Production Report.
  • Review Management Accounts with Production Director.
  • Produce & review expenditure budgets/Forecasts with the relevant budget holders.
  • Ad-hoc analysis when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven track record of process improvement
  • Ability to identify, report and track efficiencies
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Able to influence all levels of Stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to communicate & influence non-financial decision makers
  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • A strong level of computer literacy, especially using MS office applications

Highly organised, methodical, able to multi-task successfully and work on your own initiative

 
Qualifications:
ACCA or CIMA qualified, or CIMA/ACCA part qualified considered

 

Desirable

Knowledge of Microsoft Navision Finance System
Previous experience working within the rail industry
