We are currently seeking a Lead Auditor to join our HSSEQ Team based in Peterborough. This is a role where you will be responsible for the GB Railfreight audit programme, conducting audits across the business and externally, and measuring improvements against outcomes.


The successful candidate will conduct audits based around the GB Railfreight management systems. You will facilitate all external audits and maintain and update internal standards and producers in accordance with legislation.


  • Maintain and monitor the legislative registers and online systems associated with procedural updates.
  • To conduct due diligence audits on new business wins
  • To escalate and report on any exposure to the business
  • To maintain the audit diary and ensure the audit schedule is always up to date and audits do not fall outside of the Company policy in terms of time scales and frequencies
  • To amend and develop audit content in line with business requirements
  • To implement and maintain an audit actions and remedial actions tracker supporting business functions
  • To develop and implement GB Railfreight audit indicators to measure improvement and performance
  • Carry out analysis on completed audits to identify areas of improvement both group wide and areas of improvements, both internally and externally
  • To produce timely and accurate reports for period reporting, and coach and support locations in understanding the requirements during audits.

Essential Skills

  • Lead audit qualification, a minimum of one of the following 3:
    • ISO 9001
    • ISO 14001
    • OHSAS 18001 (45001)
  • 3 years’ experience in an auditing role
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise your workload
  • High attention to detail
  • Full clean UK drivers licence
