Overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to move into a Railfreight company? Are you confident speaking to people and have good organisational skills with great attention to detail? If you do, this role might be right up your street!

 

We are looking for an Office Apprentice to join our friendly Office Support team based in London. You will be responsible for general office duties as well as organising social events for the Senior Management team. This is a fantastic opportunity if you like to be busy and like a variety of tasks.

 

The starting salary for this position is £12,000 per annum and you will complete an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration as part of the Apprenticeship. The salary will increase to £16,000 per annum upon completion of your first year into the Apprenticeship.

 

GB Railfreight is the 3rd largest Railfreight company operating in the UK today. The Company was started by the current MD after privatisation. Responsibilities

  • General office duties including accepting and redirecting post and parcels, maintaining stationary supplies for our main office, being the point of contact for the main reception phone and front door, day to day office queries and meeting and greeting visitor’s.
  • Ensure Office Supplies are well stocked – including Kitchen supplies, Health and Safety supplies and general equipment.
  • Be one of our appointed Fire Warden / First Aider for the office
  • Provide EA / PA annual leave cover, supporting Directors with their diary management and events.
  • Organising Social events for all directors
  • Travel & Hotel bookings
  • Organising refreshments for meetings
  • Business Brief Administration – attending Briefs at the start to take the register / maintaining a spreadsheet of attendees / chasing staff who are overdue to attend and assisting the HR Manager in the business brief plans.
  • Working with the EA and PA’s to assist with organising the Directors’ diaries
  • Assist other teams in the business to diarise meetings for the next year
  • Keeping the Managing Directors contact list up to date
  • Assist with compiling Board Reports
  • Preparing and issuing Christmas and bonus letters for staff
  • Preparing Presentations
  • Arranging celebration dinners

Qualifications

Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to an initial assessment to establish course suitability. Ideally applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades 9 - 4. Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task whilst ensuring accuracy of the work you produce.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Confident and willing to travel
