Overview

Join our team as a Safety Business Partner to enhance our culture of safety excellence and drive continuous improvement. This role is covering the South of the country.

 

This role will be responsible for the strategic and functional development and delivery of the Safety Management System, whilst also providing support and advice on a range of health, safety, security and wellbeing activities across the Southern or Western region.
 
The role holder will work in collaboration with the Safety Team and the Risk & Compliance department to develop awareness, understanding and application of the Safety Management System and seek to drive continuous improvement so that our safety culture is enhanced within the company.
  
This will include monitoring and assisting in the close out of non-conformances, reporting to the Executive Team on action plans and offering close out if non-conformances for their teams on a monthly basis.

 

You will also assist in the internal audit program to ensure GBRf are compliant with ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001, environmental and other legislative, or regulatory requirements.

 

Regular travel across the UK is required for this role. A clean driving licence must be held.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain excellent business partnerships with the Southern region of GBRf, ensuring visibility and engagement across the network of management, traincrew and HQ operations and ensure GBRf managers understand and fulfill their health and safety, environmental and quality obligations.
  • Assist in and conduct site inspections, security assessments, personal accident investigations and risk mitigation, and in the closure of actions in order to manage site risk profile
  • Ensure regular visibility and engagement within the Safety Team, and the wider Risk & Compliance department.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance on health, safety, environmental and quality assurance matters for the region, increasing awareness throughout the business whilst working with internal and external stakeholders to provide education, instruction and information.
  • Develop and maintain excellent business partnerships with your designated client groups and encourage best practice, offering support and guidance to drive forward management of health and safety, quality and environmental awareness within the business.
  • Ensure any significant health, safety, environmental and quality issues are escalated to the management team and action plans are managed swiftly and cascaded through the company.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement programs, ensuring suitable and sufficient risk and cost analysis is in place.
  • Support and assist in the development of risk assessments, methods of work, or safe systems of work.
  • Ensuring GBRf’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems are adhered to and compliant with legislation and suitable for the needs of the business and our customer requirements.
  • Assist in internal or external audits of GBRf health and safety, environmental and quality management systems, providing written reports to the Senior Health & Safety Manager and track identified non-compliances to conclusion and analyse findings and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain systems and processes to ensure all reporting requirements are robustly managed and reported in co-operation with company sustainability and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) responsibilities
  • Ensure all customer and public complaints relating to health and safety, environment and quality issues are investigated, and reports are closed out in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, NCRQ (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of operational activities and responsibilities, as well as health and safety processes
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Dynamic, self-motivated, ability to manage multiple priorities and project management
  • Experience with in the UK Railway Industry
  • Clean driving licence
