Are you detail orientated, proactive and looking to play a vital role in a Safety-critical environment?

 

The Standards & Investigations Administrator is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations within the Safety & Sustainability team at GB Railfreight. Working closely with the Senior National Operations Standards Manager and the Lead Investigator, this role typically involves handling administrative duties such as maintaining records, transforming data into actionable insights, generating reports to support business decisions, and managing business-wide communications.

This vital position is key to ensuring the smooth running of the Standards team, ensuring information is in the right place at the right time and accessible by the right people!

 

This role will be based in Peterborough and the salary on offer is up to £30,000

Responsibilities

 

  • Issue daily incident reports, identifying if a level 1 or level 2 investigation is required.
  • Work closely with the Senior National Operations Standards Manager and the Lead Investigator on investigations, collating data and gathering evidence, and managing the storage of the data to ensure information is readily available.
  • Engage with Regional Managers on investigation actions to ensure a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Brief the Regional Managers on high-risk incidents, in preparation for the weekly Executive meeting.
  • Produce the pack for the monthly Incident Review Group meeting with Heads of departments, Regional Managers and the Investigations Lead.
  • Capture and record the actions discussed, and track progress.
  • Support in the management of the quarterly OSM Compliance Workshop, preparing the presentation deck, capturing the actions raised during the workshop, and issuing out a record of the meeting to the Regional Managers.
  • Engage with Network Rail on SPAD meetings, and work with RSSB data to maintain accurate records on investigations, comparing against industry standards.
  • Record relevant actions from RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch) investigations that could affect GB Railfreight.
  • Manage and support the production of task based videos to promote the importance of Safety & Standards across the business.
  • Gather and monitor feedback.
  • Ensure the ongoing management of systems and records with up to date information and data to ensure accurate and valid reporting.
  • Support the Training department when the Training & Standards Administrator is on leave

Qualifications

Essential

  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication, able to interact with staff, customers, and external stakeholders clearly and professionally.
  • Experience in drafting emails, reports, PowerPoint decks and other business documents with attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft suite of applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and handle unexpected changes or challenges in the workplace effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and handle a busy workload with competing priorities.
  • Experience in handling personal and sensitive data.
  • GCSE A-C / 4-9 or Level 2 equivalent in English and Maths

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience of using Power BI and/or Monday.com.
  • Knowledge of data management, data analytics experience.
  • Awareness of Risk Management frameworks.
  • Occupational / operational Safety experience on the railway.
  • Data analytics certification
  • Risk Management certification
  • Hold a clean UK driver licence
